According to reports, Aanand has been looking for a simple boy, very ordinary and honest. He saw Dhanush in 'Aadukalam' and he liked him immediately.
Dhanush says Anand wanted him in the film even before Koleveri Di happened. Anand's script is different from regular cinema; it's one of those 'made to make a difference' kind of films.
After signing the film, he went to Banaras with Anand for the first time.
Dhanush has a problem. He does not know Hindi. But he sounds confident of overcoming this problem. He will first learn the culture and ' the language will come automatically'. He is planning to engage a coach and has bought a book. By the time the shoot gets over, he will speak Hindi fluently, he says.
