Ranveer Singh entertains crowds in Purulia

The unit of Vikramaditya Motwane's epic romance Lootera starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha has been shooting in a small village in the Purulia district of West Bengal. It was quite a grueling schedule for the cast and crew as the location of the shoot was a 4 hour drive from the Akash hotel where they were put up in Purulia.

However, despite travelling to and fro for almost 8 hours daily and then shooting another 8-10 hours, Ranveer would still make it a point to entertain the huge crowd that would gather outside his hotel to see him everyday. The profound exhaustion notwithstanding, Ranveer would dance to popular tunes fromBand Baaja Baaraat for the cheering crowd, which had gathered from far and wide. Needless to say, within no time he had become a darling of the masses of Purulia district.

Speaking about this experience, Ranveer said, "It's a great feeling to be able to reach out to so many people."

Lootera is a Balaji - Phantom co-production which releases worldwide on October 26.

Whoever copies Dilip Kumar are idiots like me: SRK

Shah Rukh Khan, who was appreciated for the role of a doomed lover in 2002 remake of "Devdas", earlier played by Dilip Kumar in the 1955 film of the same name, feels nobody can imitate the thespian.

"You can't imitate Mr Dilip Kumar. Whoever copies Dilip Kumar, they are idiots like me," said Shah Rukh at the launch of Nasreen Munni Kabir's book "The Dialogue of Devdas", which has complete dialogues by Rajinder Singh Bedi, based on a screenplay by Nabendu Ghosh and lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi from Bimal Roy's immortal classic "Devdas".

Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Devdas" was treated differently by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who gave it a larger than life feel and the magnum opus had Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai as Chandramukhi and Paro respectively. The film won lots of awards.

Dilip Kumar could not make it to the event. However, he sent a letter and Shah Rukh read it out at the event at the Mehboob Studios.

After a decade of the film's release, Shah Rukh feels that it was stupid of him to go ahead and do "Devdas", which is a big screen adaptation of Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel.

"I am not someone who would like to do something which has been so beautifully crafted. I have a very deep regard for the fact that my parents loved 'Devdas'. I was very young and stupid that I said yes and did it, but as I am getting mature, hopefully more intelligent, and perhaps would not be able to do it this time," the 46-year-old said.

The first Hindi director to adapt the book was P.C. Barua who made it with K.L. Sehgal, then came the Dilip Kumar's version in 1955, followed by the SRK starrer.

The superstar also feels he would have never mustered the courage to to be part of "Devdas" had he seen Dilip Kumar's version.

"Had we seen the film before making it, we would never had the guts to make it. Sanjay, Aishwarya and Madhuri we all felt that first we should finish the film then we should watch it," he said.

It is said that so far the novel has been made into films 15 times, including in languages like Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu and Assamese.

Asin's fun-filled shooting of 'Bol Bachchan'

Asin, who was shooting in Jaipur for 'Bol Bachchan' had lot more fun than the other stars including Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan and Prachi Desai.

Asin told us on her return to Mumbai, "It was freezing, but I enjoyed myself thoroughly. Strangely I was force-fed wherever I went! In fact, most often I had to share food with my manager because I couldn't eat it all. It was a Rajasthani thaali with the traditional daal-baati churma. I sat on the floor with a tiny mini wooden table and the whole ambience looked glowing and beautiful. It felt like a different era."

Asin says that she is game to soak in the experience of any place I travel to. I also visited these stalls in a market in Chokhi Thaani (which in Rajasthani means nice village). I did a lot of fun stuff between shots."

Race 2 co-stars ignore Deepika Padukone

Deepika gets a royal ignore from her old pals and Race 2 co-stars at Dhawan's party

Deepika Padukone opted out of Ramesh Taurani's Race 2 after shooting for six days.

The producer in turn filed a complaint with CINTAA (Cine and TV Artists Association) against the actress. And while the governing body of the Hindi cinema industry was working out things, people from the fraternity chose to take a stand of their own. Mumbai Mirror has learnt that at David Dhawan's son, Rohit Dhawan's wedding in Goa, certain stars, who had been close to Deepika earlier, chose to stay away from her.

John Abraham, who came with his new girlfriend Priya Runchal for the party, ignored his Desi Boyz co-star completely. The two actors had reportedly, been rather close on the sets of their film earlier. According to a source, who was present at the reception party held n February 11, "John ignoring Deepika came as a shock."

Deepika did not give in to the cold vibes too easily. Despite her former co-stars from Race 2 refusing to be too cordial, the actress tried to restore relationships by going up and hugging Ramesh Taurani. "He was taken aback. He did not reciprocate too warmly," added our source.

Deepika's other Race 2 co-star Saif Ali Khan hasn't taken her decision to leave the film in a lurch, too well either. Saif, who had worked with Deepika in his home production Love Aaj Kal, Prakash Jha's Aarakshan and the Homi Adajani film Cocktail is miffed with the actress.

Ramesh Taurani admitted, "Saif is with me on this issue." When asked whether he was still a part of the film, Saif said, "I am completely with Rameshji. Race 2 is a cool script." The actor, however, chose not to comment on Deepika's controversial decision to us. When asked about it, Saif simply said, "That's none of my business."

John, however, chose not to speak on this at all.

Meanwhile The casting story so far...

Priyanka Chopra When asked to step into Deepika's shoes by producer Ramesh Taurani, she showed him her diary. With Krrish 3 eating up her calendar space in May, she couldn't oblige.

Kareena Kapoor According to insiders, Kareena might be the one to bail out the Tauranis at their moment of crisis, considering the actress's long-standing relationship with them.

Chunky Pandey Strangely. the male cast of Race 2 has been expanding. Now, Chunky Pandey will be seen playing a Godfather prototype in the film. He said, "I wanted negative roles."

Chitrangda Sources say that Chitrangda Singh may be the one to replace Deepika. Apparently, initial talks with her have already happened. If this fails, Asin is the next candidate.

Aniston says she's not pregnant or married

Jennifer Aniston has cleared the air about her blooming romance with boyfriend Justin Theroux, insisting that she is neither expecting their first child, nor have they married in secret.

The 'Friends' star has been dating the actor/screenwriter for nearly a year after they met on the set of new movie 'Wanderlust', and speculation about the romance has ranged from baby rumours to stories of an elopement.

Aniston insists that none of the sensational stories are true, as she is just taking the relationship one step at a time.

"I'm not having triplets. Not having twins. Nor am I having one baby. I did not elope... You heard it here. I'm not knocked up now," the Telegraph quoted her as telling GQ magazine.

"I recently quit smoking, and you do put on some extra pounds. It makes a difference, especially if you're not 20.

"I think people maybe want me to have a kid now... I still kind of go with, if it happens, it happens.

"I'm calm and peaceful with whatever the plan is. It's not something where I'm going, 'I gotta have a kid'!'' she said.

After his failed marriage with singer Katy Perry, comedian Russell Brand seems to be back to his womanising ways. He was photographed dropping a brunette back at her apartment after she stayed with him overnight.

The 36-year-old, gave the mystery girl a kiss before she skipped out of his car wearing the same clothes from the night before. Brand had enjoyed a date with her at The Largo Theatre, in Los Angeles at the weekend, before driving back to his place, reports thesun.co.uk.

"Russell is a single man again and starting to move on from Katy. Like any bloke, he had missed female company. He isn't quite back to his old ways yet, but he's very much back in the saddle," said a source.

Meanwhile his ex-wife Perry performed her new single "Part of me" at the 54th Grammy awards ceremony Sunday.

The song is a broadside at their failed marriage. It includes cutting lines like - "You chewed me up and spat me out. You can keep the diamond ring."

The couple were married for just 14 months before Brand filed for divorce last December.

Charan's Zanjeer to go on floors from April 20

Ram Charan has Yevadu and VV Vinayak's film on hand in Telugu. Meanwhile, his debut Hindi film Zanjeer, to be directed by Apoorva Lakhia of Shootout at Lokhandwala fame, will go on the floors in the month of April.

This marks Cherry's Bollywood entry in style. What is interesting is that like in his debut film Chirutha, Cherry will serve a jail term in his Hindi debut as well. He serves a 6-month jail term after being framed on false charges by the villains.

In his very first attempt in Bollywood, the Raccha star is trying something which even his illustrious father has never tried in his entire career spanning more than 25 years. Reprising a role immortalized by the greatest angry man of Indian Cinema, Big B. The rumour is that the film will be made on a high cost. With revenge films from Aamir Khan's Ghajini to Hrithik Roshan's Agneepath gaining currency, it is anybody's guess that Zanjeer is going to make it big.

In view of NTR's Dookudu, Vytla goes for Badshah

If Action sounded convincing to you, here is something even better from Sreenu Vytla: Badshah. This is the title of his up-and-coming film with Junior NTR. It goes without saying that the director has gone for this royal title keeping in view NTR's image.

Young Tiger has always wanted to be Tollywood's Badshah. In the wake of Mohan Babu's statement that Junior is the best actor among the current crop of actors, the title change constitutes a conscious effort to position the Oosaravelli star as a king in his own right.

It is said that the actor was not very keen on retaining Action for the movie. The makers, therefore, tried hard to find a better title. With Badshah striking favorably with NTR's fans, they will stick to it. The film sees Kajal Agarwal as the heroine. Thaman is scoring the music for the second time for an NTR film (Brindavanam was the first film in their combo). KV Guhan is the cinematographer.

Four villains in 'Maatraan' - Suriya against Suriya!

There are a total number of four villains in Suriya's forthcoming venture 'Maatran' and one among them, interestingly, is Suriya himself. The other three are Milind Soman, Daniel Balaji and Veera of 'Nadunisi Naaygal' fame!

"If one would closely look at the three names, they could find a Gautham Vasudev Menon link. While Milind Soman is the baddie of 'Pachaikili Muthucharam', Daniel is that of 'Vettaiyadu Vilayadu', and Veera was part of 'Nadunisi Naaygal'," point out sources.

"This is because of Suriya's close rapport with Gautham. Both are good friends and had worked together in 'Kaakka Kaakka' and 'Varanam Aayiram'. Suriya, who was impressed with the performance of the three actors, wanted them to cross swords with him in Maatraan," add sources.

Directed by K V Anand, the film which has Kajal Aggarwal opposite Suriya is produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram of AGS Entertainment. Shooting is almost over and Anand is planning to release the movie during summer.

Amitabh Bachchan, who has been suffering from stomach ailments for a while, will be undergoing surgery for the same on Feb 11.

In his blog, Big B wrote, "There were some medical procedures today as well and a surgery that I shall be undergoing on the 11th morning. The surgery they say is not too complicated, but then all doctors say the same as you end up on the operating table, and before long the details and the subsequent anxieties begin to rise. There has been a dosage of injections intravenous that began today and shall continue for a few days... a pain in the abdomen has to be investigated tomorrow under a CT Scan and then and only then shall the ok for the surgery be given ... so the next few weeks shall be full of nothing else but the hospital and medical bulletins... Boring it may be but it shall be as informative as possible."

Big B further added, "My stomach which has already been the bed of many complicated battles in the past, shall have to entertain this as well. It's a war zone, my body, and one which has been through a great deal and still does."

Ramesh Taurani and Deepika at loggerheads over Race 2

Deepika Padukone's decision to walk out of producer Ramesh Taurani's multi-starrer Race 2, after shooting for six days, has angered Taurani to no extent. He feels her behavior was totally uncalled for and is extremely unethical, unprofessional and unacceptable.

Deepika's leaving the film has caused havoc with the dates of the other stars in the film like Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Ameesha Patel and Jacqueline Fernandes. It has also resulted in huge monetary losses for producer as the building of sets for their next schedule is already underway and the crew and the location were already booked. Taurani, who has been in this industry for 25 years and has worked with several top notch stars, says that has never faced a situation like this before.

What apparently angered Ramesh Taurani the most was that he got the news that she has left the film from the media and not Deepika herself. The story goes that after shooting for 6 days, Deepika didn't turn up on the shoot. The production team tried to reach her but couldn't get through her. When Ramesh called her, she said she would come with her new manager and work things out. But Deepika didn't turn up for the meeting and her manager informed Taurani that she had been offered a major Hollywood project, which she couldn't let go.

But what followed next had Ramesh boiling with anger. Just as she left Race 2, Deepika announced that she would be doing Rajinikanth's next film Kochadaiyaan directed by his daughter Soundarya.

Deepika had opted out of Race 2 before when was offered Ayan Mukherjee's film opposite Ranbir Kapoor, but the makers got her back on board by adjusting her dates. The makers had even postponed their Turkey schedule for her and in the process they had to let go off Sonakshi Sinha, who they replaced with Jacqueline.

In Deepika's defense, a source close to her stated that the constant delays in the schedule of Race 2 was the main reason she left the film as she couldn't adjust her dates again once she was informed that they were changed.

Reportedly, Taurani is also planning to take legal action against Deepika but they are first finding a replacement for her as soon as they can.
